TEAM MALONE

  • Jeffrey Albores

Jeffrey reached out to me last year about this time to find out about coaching for his first marathon. He trusted the process, learned about cadence, and completed all his workouts. He stayed injury-free, got faster AND he finished his first marathon in Chicago! During this time, he balanced his work at the hospital, took fun trips with his wife, and genuinely enjoyed the training. He lives and works in Greenwood, SC.

  • Wes Baker

Wes took a beginner triathlon class through the GVL TRI club four years ago, then tacked on a few private swim coaching sessions before signing up for coaching. He is originally from Greenville and now lives in Duncan, SC, where he is a welder. He and his wife, Susanna, welcomed a baby boy into their family during this time! This year, Wes crossed the finish line of Ironman Chattanooga in fine form! Wes loves that our team is always kind and supportive during training and racing.

  • Melodee Coleman

Melodee makes her home in Charlotte, NC just finished her first Ironman this year! She raced Ironman Chattanooga and simultaneously earned a spot on the podium AND a trip to the Ironman World Championships in 2024!

  • Brynley Farr

Brynley (left) is back out there chasing dreams after having her 4th baby this year! She completed She Tris Women's Tri in Charleston with team member Erica. Brynley lives on Lake Murray in Columbia with her husband. She has many wonderful adventures with her family that you can be inspired by on her Instagram. She and her husband run a marketing company, @byfarrdesign, so her posts are top-notch!

  • Chris Henry

Chris just started with our team this year. He began as a non-swimmer and quickly proved that fast swimming can be achieved through hard work and dedication. He even worked his way into the #1 ranking for Aquabike this year! He loves learning from his coach and from all the great athletes on the team who help him level up his game.

  • Steve Hinds

Steve came to me as a naturally gifted athlete, but he followed that up with a serious work ethic and the ability to follow the plan. The combination of great groups of people to train with and a newfound love of cycling led Steve to impressive results and a sub-12-hour Ironman in his first one in Chattanooga in September. Steve is originally from North Charleston, SC, but has made Inman his home for years. He is a CPA, so his training is on a 9-month cycle to allow him to focus more on work during tax season.

  • Julie Kidd

Julie from Roanoke, VA finished her first half Ironman at Augusta 70.3 and nailed her race plan. Then she followed that up with a half marathon under 2 hours which was something that had eluded her. As a pharmacist and a busy Mother of two boys she really needed the the structure and direction of a customized training plan and feedback to make her training thrive.

  • Cindy Lucking

Cindy is a true embodiment of excellence in running and triathlon! Her unparalleled dedication, relentless work ethic, and talent have sent her to Multisport Nationals and Worlds! Cindy is from Wilmette, IL (Chicago area) and now lives in Greer. She is a happily retired college professor with a new hip this year. That only slowed her down for a hot minute; she is back to training now. Cindy loves her friendly and supportive teammates.

  • Keith McGovern

Keith was new to the team in 2023. His goals for the year varied from doing well at the Olympic distance to racing Ironman Florida. To say that he excelled would be an understatement! I have honestly never seen someone make the improvements in running that he did. That is why he gets my "most improved" award for the year. Keith lives in Greenville, SC, but is originally from Baltimore, MD. This year, he plans to focus on shorter distance racing like the half IM and USAT Nationals. He enjoys the community of our team and the open water group swims.

  • Erica Watson

Erica, originally from Rochester, Minnesota, now lives in Spartanburg. She finished her first triathlon this year at the She Tris Women's Tri in September. She had to learn good swimming technique, how to ride, and work on her running form. We got to work on all of this in the late spring, and by September, she was confident in her abilities. When she isn't training, she travels the world, taking the most amazing underwater photographs you have ever seen! Follow her at Erica Watson Photography!

  • Phil Zitello

Phil is one of our longest members (starting year 11). Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, he lives in Hilton Head, SC, and is a semi-retired Anesthesiologist. Phil's greatest strength is his mental game! His favorite part of this coaching group is the camaraderie at all races and events.
